About Pioneers in Learning Academy
Pioneers in Learning Academy is located on the northwest side of Houston near Cypress, TX. We originally began as a small home-missions Pentecostal church called Victory Apostolic Tabernacle. Pastor Jose Martinez first envisioned a childcare center while exploring the location of our initial church. As he walked through the building, noting all the available rooms, God spoke to him through the leasing manager and inspired him with the idea of establishing a childcare center adjacent to our church. When he shared this vision with his daughter, Natalie Martinez, she immediately felt called by God, along with their family, to help bring this childcare center to life.
Jose, Natalie, and their family have proudly opened Pioneers in Learning Academy! Their mission is to bring love, hope, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every family and child that comes through their doors. We offer developmentally appropriate learning activities and flexible lesson plans that our teachers can adjust to meet each child’s individual needs.
PILA aims to provide high-quality education and childcare that fosters Christian character and leadership qualities. We are committed to creating a Christian-based, safe, secure, respectful, and inclusive learning environment that lays a strong foundation for lifelong learning and success.

Our teachers are dedicated to bringing their best each and every day! They love children and strive to see each child grow and hit proper developmental milestones! There is nothing like being a part of a child’s learning journey. Our PILA teachers bring warmth, kindness, and professionalism to our center by keeping strong communication between parents and our PILA team. We will work together to get you and your child through an amazing journey to become Learning Pioneers!
Jose Martinez – Onsite Owner
Jose is a father of 5 beautiful kids, a pastor of a home mission church in Cypress, TX, and has a burden for children of all ages. As a father, he raised his children to be life-long learners, independent thinkers, and strong members of society! He understands the value of children’s education and homeschooled his first three children for three years. Jose loves children and always finds a way to make them laugh! He believes children learn best through independent problem-solving and taking on challenges head-on! His passion is to provide a safe, nurturing academy to help teach and guide this future generation!
Natalie Martinez – Center Director
Director Natalie is a CDA, Child Development Associate, with a director’s certification for childcare centers. She has an associate degree in Business Management and two years of childcare experience. She has worked with all age groups ranging from 6 weeks to 4 years old. Natalie has a passion for children! No matter what age or developmental level, she strives to bring out the best in every child! She brings joy and calm to every class. Natalie believes children learn through hands-on, fun, and involved activities. “When children are immersed in an activity, that is when you can step away and let that child explore and learn the material or subject in a more meaningful way.”
Naomi Martinez – Operational Manager
Naomi is a CDA, Child Development Associate, with a director’s certification for childcare centers. She has an associate degree in Business Management and two years of childcare experience. Naomi has worked with all age groups but specializes in infants to toddlers! She brings warmth and peace to every child she comes across! Her patience and kind spirit bring joy to our center! Naomi believes children learn best in a calm, peaceful, nurturing environment. She also understands that children learn by doing! From taking their first steps to saying their first words, she loves to guide them all the way through.
